Friends of Bellevue State Park is a non-profit group in Bellevue, Iowa who desire to preserve and protect the natural environment while creating an educational, recreational, and cultural experience in the great outdoors. They strive to promote a safe and healthy encounter with nature by utilizing the natural world of plants, animals, landscape, and insects.

History
Bellevue State Park was one of the first state parks in Iowa, and was established August 24, 1928. The Butterfly Garden was built by Judy Pooler and a large group of volunteers in 1984. Over the years the garden became overgrown and in 2020 the Friends of the Bellevue State Park took on the task to restore the garden to a beautiful safe haven for butterflies and other wildlife. The garden is now thriving again and provides a sanctuary for the wildlife as well as thousands of visitors each year.
